Injunctions and Restraining Orders

Victims of violence or threat of violence are able to apply to the Court for an intervention order, of which there are two types. The first is a personal safety intervention order, and the second is a family violence intervention order. If you feel you need immediate protection, an interim intervention order will be required.

Melbourne Intervention Order Lawyers

Hughes Legal are family law experts able to help you process your intervention order and defend you in the Magistrates’ Court. We work with victims of violence and abuse daily to help them seek protection for their partner or family. We appreciate the immense stress that comes with these cases, and we approach every case with compassion and professionalism.

From our experience in intervention orders and family law, our lawyers can offer advice, both to an applicant and respondent, to help navigate this process and come to the best possible resolution. In cases where an interim intervention order is granted, there is often a clause that prevents the respondent from communicating with their former partner. Understanding the fine details is essential as a breach can result in imprisonment.
